About Us

Welcome to Yeovil Islamic Centre, also known as SSMCA. YIC was established in 1996 in South Somerset and is located approx. 25 miles from Junction 25 off the M5.

In 2005 the Muslim community began to converge at 8A Westminster St (above Charcoal Grill) in Yeovil town centre. As the community grew they secured the purchase of 6A Westminster St and the combination of 8A and 6A gave the local community the chance to establish the first formal Mosque of Yeovil and the county of Somerset.

As the community expanded we outgrew this building and subsequently in November 2014 we completed, with the grace of Almighty Allah, the purchase of our current location. This building was formally used as a MOT centre and a used cars sales forecourt. In February 2016 the Masjid conversion project began and the primary structural work was complete by December 2016.

Yeovil Islamic Centre is the only purpose build Masjid in the South Somerset area which attracts both Muslims and Non-Muslims from approx. 20 miles’ radius from the nearby towns and villages.
